The story
Seven years in, Nintendo shrank the Game Boy to something that actually fit a pocket. The Pocket is lighter, runs on two AAA batteries instead of four AAs, and most importantly ships with a proper black-and-white screen instead of the original's murky green.
That true grayscale display is the Pocket's quiet superpower, games look crisp in a way the DMG never managed. Early units shipped without a battery indicator LED; Nintendo added it back after complaints.
It is a favourite base for clean, understated mods: the smaller shell is comfortable, and a modern IPS screen makes it close to perfect.
